Bochum University of Applied Sciences awards honorary professorship to Philipp Hummel

Bonn, 26 June 2024. Bochum University of Applied Sciences has paid tribute to the long‑​standing commitment made by Redeker partner Prof Philipp Hummel by awarding him an honorary professorship. The specialist in construction and architectural law has been a lecturer at Bochum University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Architecture since 2017. Since then, he has taught construction law to more than 420 students, providing them with the legal toolsets they will be needing in their future careers. This includes topics involving legal issues in the field of construction and the realisation of planning tasks as well as contract law.

Philipp Hummel has been working as a lawyer at the Bonn office of Redeker Sellner Dahs since 2007. He specialises in private construction law, architectural and engineering law and provides legal advice and acts as counsel in construction, litigation and arbitration proceedings. He advises and acts as counsel for enterprises and planning offices throughout Germany on major construction projects, in particular those involving plant construction, energy infrastructure projects, dismantling and decommissioning measures.

In addition, Philipp Hummel is co‑​author of a commentary on the new construction contract law by Leupertz/​Preussner/​Sienz and a commentary on VOB/B by Nicklisch/​Weick/​Jansen/​Seibel. In the HOAI commentary by Messerschmidt/​Niemöller/​Preussner, Hummel authors the commentary on sections 41‑44. He also features as an author in the practical handbook for construction managers by Bauch/​Bargstädt (3rd ed. 2020) and in the handbook for private construction law by Kleine‑Möller/​Merl/​Glöckner (6th ed. 2019).

Philipp Hummel has been recommended and commended multiple times by JUVE, Chambers Europe, Wirtschaftswoche, Legal 500 and Handelsblatt/​Best Lawyers in the field of Construction Law.
